Hello Wastewater Professionals,
The 2026 summer solstice just happened on Sunday, June 21
and officially began in the Northern Hemisphere at 4:24 a.m. EDT, marking the astronomical
start of summer and the longest day of 2026. It could be said that we enjoy our
great water resources and water adventures most, this time of year. From
boating, fishing and swimming, our local water activities and fun will peak
cooling us off this summer.
This month the Western Pennsylvania Water Pollution
Control Association (WPWPCA) celebrated the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association
(PWEA) 100th Anniversary. The PWEA hosted many spectacular events
and PennTec 2026, PWEA's 97th Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition. These
distinguished events took place from June 15-18 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey,
PA.
Coming up, July 17th, the WPWPCA is on the
road again with our next Plant Tour and Luncheon/Business Meeting. Hosting this
event is the Eaton Power Systems Experience Center, located in Warrendale PA. The
Eaton Experience Center tour will provide information regarding industry’s best
practices and the latest innovations through hands-on training in multiple
application environments. Their applications step attendees through power
management solutions through the utility power systems down to the receptacle
in your home or office. Register to learn the design, technology and
installation practices of a product within today’s most advanced power
applications. Lunch will be provided at the facility after the tour. Please
register at wpwpca.org.
Lots of excellent training opportunities are available on
the schedule as well as our WPWPCA August Family Picnic Event. Also coming up
in August is the WPWPCA Golf Outing. Please register soon at wpwpca.org.
