Kevin D. Hoffman

Kevin D. Hoffman is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania with 10 years experience specializing in water and wastewater planning, design and construction management.

 

Kevin holds Bachelors and Masters of Science Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Natural Sciences from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  While completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Pittsburgh, Kevin served as a student member of the ASCE, a teaching assistant and performed environmental research.  His research and concentration of study was in the water and wastewater aspects of environmental engineering and extensively investigated the presence of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in wastewater at various stages of treatment.   Based on the findings of his research efforts, Kevin has co-authored a paper entitled “Survival and Recovery of HIV in Wastewater” that was presented at the Annual WEFTEC Conference in Chicago, IL in 1997.  This paper was also incorporated in a book published by the Water Environment Federation in April 1999 entitled: HIV in Wastewater: Presence, Viability and Risks to Treatment Plant Workers.

 

While completing his education, Kevin worked part time for KLH Engineers, Inc. as an engineers apprentice, survey assistant, draftsman, and resident field observer,  He joined KLH as a full time employee in August 1997 and currently holds the position of Senior Design Engineer/Project Manager fulfilling many duties including: planning and design of water and waste water facilities and appurtenances, client pre-treatment coordination assistance, general consulting engineering and office management.  Several spotlight projects Kevin lists on his resume includes:

·         Design of the Economy Borough Municipal Authority WWTP

·         Design of the Vanport Township Municipal Authority WWTP Expansion

·         Design and Construction Management for the Washington East-Washington Joint Authority Phase II  WWTP Improvements,

·         Planning and design assistance for the Rostraver Township Sewage Authority and the City of St. Marys WWTP Expansions

·         Headworks Loading Analysis and Local Limit Determination of the Municipal Authority of the City of McKeesport

·         Several WWTP capacity re-rate and treatability analysis studies for various clients. 

 

Kevin has been an active member of the Western Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Association and a member of Pennsylvania Water Environment Association, Water Environment Federation and Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association since 1998.  In that time he has served on the WPWPCA Executive Board, as chairman of the Scholarship Committee, and as a member of Golf Outing, Editorial, Industrial Pretreatment committees. 

 

Beyond Kevin’s academic and professional resume are his interests in cooking, golf, college and professional football, and most importantly his family.  Kevin and his wife Carrie are raising two young sons, Theodore (Ted), and Douglas (Doug) in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
